“Welcome home!” I slipped off my new shoes. I could feel the soft rug under my bare feet. I plopped down on the couch which felt like it was made of velvet. I ran upstairs to my new bedroom. When I got there I was happily greeted by all of my stuffed animals. Or as my little brother liked to call them, stuffies. I reached out for my favorite one, Meow Meow. I stroked her like she was a real cat with the softest fur in the world. I knew my life at this new house was going to be great.
Everything had changed when dad had won the lottery. My dad had put ¾ of it into savings but he let us go on two shopping sprees and now we were getting a new house. I was so excited to see how my new life would be.
I was so excited to start unpacking and to make this place really feel like home. I bolted outside I grabbed a box labeled Lily’s Room. It was heavy. I peeked inside and I saw picture frames. Those frames were all of my drawings. I picked one up, it was empty. I picked another one same thing. I went through all of them and found them all empty. I didn’t remember emptying out the frames but I knew who would.
“Dad where are you?”
“Right over here Lily what do you need?”
“Do you remember emptying out the picture frames?”
“You mean the ones with your artwork in them?”I nodded. “No, we just packed them into the boxes and gave them to the movers.”
“Then where are they?”
“I’m sorry sweetie, I don’t know.”
